ARTUR SOLOMONOV. THEATRICAL STORY.

Not spoilt by the attention of public and producers an actor of a famous theater had a dream of himself acting in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Julia” the part of… Julia. Well, everything may happen in the dreams. But soon it turns out that the celebrated producer got obsessed by the conception of quite a new scenic realization of the drama. Moreover it’s this very actor whom he appoints to play Julia! Well, it also happens — producers’ intentions are as unpredictable as our dreams and may have unpredictable consequences which exactly take place in this novel.

 

The poetical map of this issue is very wide: VYACHESLAV SHAPOVALOV from Bishkek, ZVIAD RATIANI from Tbilisi and his translator BAHIT KENZEEV from New-York, DMITRIJ RUMYANTZEV from Omsk and GRIGORIJ KRUZKOV from Moscow. Everyone of them has his own peculiarities of attitude determined both by belonging to a certain generation and by individual creative search and hand.

 

ILYA FALIKOV. Notes in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Yaroslav Smelyakov.

Sometimes they call him “a man of the sixties”. It’s not correct. Smelyakov had entered the literature 30 years earlier and all his life considered himself a poet of the epoch when everything was just beginning for his country and for himself. Though it’s true that two thirds of that period were knocked out and disfigured for him and his triumph fell on the declining creative period marked by feverish writing. By this publication we commemorate the centenary of the poet who used to conduct the poetical section of our magazine for many years.
