COLUMN OF THE FOUNDERS Mikhail Baidakov, Sergey Belkin Conversation of Mikhail Baidakov and Sergey Belkin The publisher and the chief editor of the miscellany summarize two years’ results of the edition existence and its seven issues published during this time. In the conversation a significant attention has been paid to the subject of the current issue – problems of family and demography. Therefore, the conversation becomes a kind of announcement of materials of the issue. In previous issues such an announcement was contained in the editorial column. FAMILY AND DEVELOPMENT Sergey Belkin Sanctity of Motherhood The chief editor of the miscellany is considering the landmarks of implementation of the All-Russian program Sanctityof Motherhood, organized and supported by the Fund of Saint All-praised Andrew the First-Called and the Centre of National Glory. The article discloses the significant problems of the Third Forum of the Family values in the informationspace Program for the cross-cutting theme of the miscellany. Interview with Oleg Atkov “Only the country that regards a family as its highest value has a future” Oleg Atkov shares his ideas concerning the problems of the modern Russian healthcare system, expresses his thoughts regarding the perception of health and a healthy lifestyle as one of the most important values of human life. The interview also covers such issues as the role of the individual, the family and the state in ensuring active longevity. Konstantin Shestakov When the birth-rate will be no less than three per each family Konstantin Shestakov analyzes the reproductive behavior of contemporary Russian citizens, compares it with the system of values aimed at procreation and characteristic of traditional Russian culture. The author considers that the current increase in the birth rate is possible only through laying special emphasis on the value factor and motivation for childbearing. Irina Medvedeva, Tatiana Shishova The Trojan horse of juvenile justice Irina Medvedeva and Tatiana Shishova consider the risks and threats, which are part of the juvenile justice system. The article proves that the introduction of the juvenile justice institution in Russia may lead to the virtual collapse of the traditional family, this has already happened in the West. The authors demonstrate the destructive impact of the juvenile justice on the moral, ethical and psychological state of the youth. Oleg Bakhtiyarov The Sovereign’s Children Project Oleg Bakhtiyarov considers that a drastic increase in the Russian population is possible only through fundamental reforming of children’s educational institutions on the basis of new educational technologies and assigning this method of population reproduction a high – compared with the family – priority. The author is convinced that new powerful elite may be raised only in such new educational institutions. SOCIETY AND DEVELOPMENT Interview with Vitaly Milonov “As soon as it becomes possible to debate the fundamental values on which the society is based, the values themselvesare immediately put in jeopardy” Vitaly Milonov speaks about the background of the law banning gay propaganda issued by the St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly and shares his thoughts on the growing activity of the LGBT community. The interview also covers the issues of spiritual and psychological condition of the modern West. Vladimir Bliznekov Sodom civilization. The nature and forms of the future religion and culture of the West Vladimir Bliznekov analyzes the recognition of the LGBT community’s rights to build full – from a legal point of view – families, the process which has spread out in the West in recent years. The article deals with a phenomenon of modern aggressive propaganda of the subculture’s values, as well as historical landmarks of the community’s integration in the government institutions. Alexander Yusupovsky Migration policy: one gets everything, another – a big fat nothing Alexander Yusupovsky estimates the problems of the Russian migration policy. The main idea of the article is that our country has no circumspect and integral strategy in this area. Numerous facts cited by the author demonstrate the shortcomings of existing mechanisms of migrants’ adaptation, as well as corruption of migration structures. Sergey Chesnokov Civilization of life against civilization of death.Methodological bases for construction of the future civilization Sergey Chesnokov contrasts two types of civilization – the Medieval and Renaissance – not as specific historical eras, but as models which were later put into life. The author calls the first model civilization of life, and the second – civilization of death. The article provides a detailed plan of the intellectual assurance of the construction process of the civilization of life. Oleg Fomin-Shakhov Biopolitical control. The war of the elites against the population The article is focused on biopolitics – a new trend of interdisciplinary research primarily aimed at finding ways to control the size of population and its qualitative characteristics. The author considers that the biopolitical research as conducted in the West is destructive for the development of Russia and calls for developing a range of measures to oppose them. Interview with Archpriest Maxim Kozlov “I have no feeling that the external favor in relation to the Church will continue throughout our lives, and,more than that, lives of our children” Archpriest Maxim Kozlov ponders on the problems of the modern Orthodox family and the difficulties of church education of children and adolescents. The interview covers the situation in the modern Christian West, addresses certain priorities of the Russian Orthodox Church, specified by Patriarch Kirill and brings forward the priest’s thoughts about the possible future challenges to the Church. POLITICS AND DEVELOPMENT Anatoly Koshkin Revenge of Japanese conservatives. Kuril Islands: is there a chance of a draw? Anatoly Koshkin examines the history of the Russian-Japanese dispute over the possession of the southern part of the Kuril Islands, as well as the dynamics of international relations against the background of this dispute in recent years. This article presents the different views on the ways of the dispute resolution which exist in the Japanese political elite groups. The author gives his own problem-solving scenario. Oleg Krasnov Moldova – between East and West Oleg Krasnov considers the situation in today’s Moldova from different points of view. There is an analysis of socio-economic situation in the country, the alignment of the existing political forces and the cultural identity of the country. The author believes that, despite the association agreement with the EU, Moldova has no prospects of full membership in the European Union. THEORY OF DEVELOPMENT Yury Krasin Modernization of the society and new humanity. Food for reflection Yuri Krasin considers the innovative type of development as a new trend, according to which, as the author thinks, the further development of our civilization will proceed. The article deals with the characteristics of this type of development and draws the conclusion of exceptional importance of moral and ethical grounds, and overcoming of the current dehumanization for the future civilization. Alexander Neklessa Formation of elite On the basis of extensive historical material relating mainly to the past of Western civilization, Alexander Neklessa formulates the principles according to which the elites were recruited in the Western history and culture, considering specific features of these elites, their anthropological and socio-cultural characteristics, and makes a prediction about the possible scenarios of elitogenesis in modern civilization. Archpriest Kirill Kopeykin The demographic transition: on the threshold of a new development paradigm The author examines the current concepts of potential prospects of the world population growth and the factors that could stop this growth. Demographic problems are directly linked to the desecularization process, having spread out in recent years, which draws attention of many prominent thinkers of today. ECONOMICS AND DEVELOPMENT Vasily Simchera Passion for the recession Vasily Simchera analyzes the public view of the current period as a time of recession, which view is currently predominant both in the West and in Russia. The author shows the fundamental difference between the processes taking place in the West, and the same in Russia. The article indicates that the policy carried out in Russia and aimed at maintenance of the economic stability and control of inflation will result in a severe crisis in the end. Igor Zuev Privatization in Russia: a new attempt to distribute the old inheritance Igor Zuev analyses the history of the three privatization campaigns in Russia – of early 1990s, the mid-1990s, and the current privatization. The author urges to take into account the lessons of previous privatization campaigns of the 1990s, which caused serious damage to the economy and social sphere of Russia, as well as to carry out the current privatization in a manner as transparent and advantageous for the state as possible. DATES Jean Marais: the centenary of his birth LANDSCAPE AND DEVELOPMENT Alexander Belkin “I was thinking only of the honor and glory of France…” Article by Alexander Belkin has been timed for the 400th anniversary of the birth of Andri Le Notre, a famous French architect, the creator of Versailles complex and other famous buildings. The author presents the landmarks of the architect’s biography, as well as a fragment describing the park of Versailles, drawn up by the French King Louis XIV and being an original guidebook to this landscape monument.
