Every published book depends on a network, and the network engaged in the development of this book is extensive. It includes many senior and very busy experts and leaders in the field, within and outside of the U.S. Government. The concept for the book was born of the impressive intellectual capital emerging from the Center for Complex Operations (CCO) conference, “Illicit Networks in an Age of Globalization,” held at National Defense University, February 8–9, 2011.
