MEDVEDEV PERCEIVES DEMOCRACY FROM A WESTERN STANDPOINT
It is my belief that president Medvedev tends to personally view democracy from a western standpoint. Nevertheless, as the president of Russia, above any personal concerns, he should rather demonstrate his commitment to the ‘Russian understanding’ of democracy.

THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA APPEARED VERY MODERN AT THE YAROSLAVL FORUM
The forum was a success. Western colleagues were extremely inspired as they saw the President of Russia as an energetic and very modern man. At his meeting with experts and academics, as well as various discussions during the course of the session, Dmitry Medvedev left the impression that both the concept of democracy and the ideology of modernization are being successfully developed in Russia.

STABLE DEMOCRACY: MANY MODELS, ONE AGENDA
Unfortunately, the starting point of this talk is Russia’s lack of professional discussion of its own democratic development. The moral disaster caused by the first-wave Democrats in the early 1990s made the word ‘democratic’ almost taboo, and our debates started to be conducted in technocratic or ideological lingo.
