altЦентральное разведывательное управление США сняло гриф секретности с двух пакетов исторических документов.

Сайт ЦРУ приводит слова директора ЦРУ Майкла Винсента Хэйдена: ЦРУ осознает свой долг защищать национальные интересы, но существует также и ответственность быть открытыми, насколько это возможно. Я часто говорил о нашем социальном договоре с американским народом и рассекречивание исторических документов является важной частью этого стремления».

Первый пакет, который иногда называют «ФАМИЛЬНЫЕ СЕКРЕТЫ» (Family Jewels) составляет почти 700 страниц был собран в 1973 году директором ЦРУ Джеймсом Шлезингером, который поручил сотрудникам ЦРУ докладывать и деятельности, которая, на их взгляд, противоречит уставу Управления.

В 1974 году ЦРУ предоставило документы в Конгресс. Они были самым тщательным образом изучены назначенной президентом комиссией Рокфеллера, а также Комитетом по вопросам религии и Комитетом по налогам в Конгрессе. Частично документы были представлены общественности в последующие годы.

Рассекречивание данного пакета осуществлего в соответствии с требованиям Акта о свободе информации от 1992 г.

Второй пакет составляют документы «ЦЕЗАРЬ-ПОЛО-ИСАВ» (CAESAR-POLO-ESAU), это 147 документов, 11 тысяч страниц аналитических докладов с 1953 по 1973 гг. В документах «ЦЕЗАРЬ» и ПОЛО» представлены исследования по структуре руководства СССР и Китая соответственно, документы «ИСАВ» составляют документы, подготовленные аналитиками ЦРУ по оценке советско-китайских отношений.
